Attention all NJ employers! You have until December 7, 2011, to post the new, six-page notice of employers’ obligations under various NJ labor laws. You must also distribute the notice to all current employees, as well as to all new hires since November 7, 2011 and all new hires thereafter. Failure to comply with the posting and notice requirements could lead to a fine of up to $1,000, as well as criminal penalties.
The new notice, which is required by Section 4 of New Jersey Law 2009, chapter 194 is available for download from the NJ Labor Department at http://lwd.state.nj.us/labor/forms_pdfs/EmployerPosterPacket/MW-400.pdf.
While the new regulation allows electronic posting and distribution by e-mail, I recommend that you also conspicuously post the notice physically, in the break room or other location where you normally put state and federal posters.
