I am not a workers’ comp maven, but I noticed that on October 1, Gov. Corzine signed some bils on workers’ comp reform. Two note-worthy provisions:
• Employers that knowingly fail to provide coverage can be charged with a crime and fined up to $5,000. Employers that fail to report workplace incidents to the Division of Workers’ Compensation could be fined up to $1,000.
• All employers must submit proof of workers’ comp coverage as part of their annual reports. If the proof is not included, the annual report will not be considered as properly filed.
