Pregnant Worker Fairness Act: Accommodations and Strategies

I am happy to announce that I will be teaching a 2-hour interactive webinar: “Pregnant Workers Fairness Act: Accommodations and Strategies” on Thursday, May 23, from 1-3 EDT.

Final regulations for the new Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) were recently released by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and become effective on June 18, 2024.

While the PWFA became effective in June, 2023, employers did not have definitive instructions about how to comply until the final regulations were issued. Now that the EEOC has spoken, employers need to understand the new regulations, the EEOC’s 400 pages of interpretive material, and strategies for complying with the PWFA and related laws on pregnancy accommodations.

We’ll discuss:

  • Conditions covered
  • The Interactive Process
  • Reasonable accommodations
  • Undue hardship
  • PWFA and the Pregnancy Discrimination Act
  • PWFA and the ADA
  • PWFA and the PUMP Act
  • PWFA and the FMLA
  • PWFA and state pregnancy accommodation laws
  • Best Practice recommendations
